There are metal salts and xenon gases stuffed within this glass enclosure.HID headlights offer the consumer the following advantages:īetter visibility: HID headlights offers better visibility allowing other drivers to see you better. These headlights operate by wrapping two electrodes inside an enclosure of glass. Another name for HID lights is Xenon headlights. HID is the abbreviation for "high-intensity discharge" this means the light bulbs illuminate brighter than regular headlights. Sometimes a coating of blue is added to give them an even brighter appearance. In addition, the envelope is glass, pressurized using an inert gas, containing small quantities of halogen gas such as bromine or iodine. The halogen bulb can burn longer and more brightly due to the tungsten filaments within the bulb. Instead of using a vacuum inside the light bulb, a halogen uses pressurized gas. Halogen lights have two different functions-dimming and bright. These headlights have light bulbs with either a single or a couple of filaments. Faulty headlights pose a safety hazard to yourself and other drivers and are also illegal. When you buy headlights for your car you want to ensure they will illuminate the road ahead, and also navigate your way during lousy weather. Never had a car before that I was this escited about.LED and HID headlights are both effective and do the job you pay for. If it's just for looks, I'd buy some blue halogens and call it good. I totally get the idea of halo's in the fog lights, but why HID? I'm not knocking anybody, I just want to know, as I would add them to my car if ya'll think it's worth the time and the money. Won't HID fog lamps blind oncoming traffic, and over-illuminate the snow? On a side note, not trying to knock anybody, but what is the point of HID fog lamps? I figure that Í'll be running my high beams when I need the light, and I'll only switch to the low beams and fog lights when there is oncoming traffic or snow. Is there anybody reading my post that can see any problem with this kit? Should I buy it, or not? 50 bucks barely buys a set of Sylvania Silverstars. The real shocker? It's priced at 50 bucks, and includes everything you need to have true HID projector lights. It comes with two HID bulbs that look like they fit in the projector just like the halogen ones (easy, easy), and two ballast packs that you have to wire into the stock wiring, which I assume is basically just your average plug and play. I was actually browsing Ebay this morning, looking for replacement headlights (new housing and everything), and I came across an HID conversion kit. It looks extremely easy to do the HID conversion.
